Frequently Asked Questions about laser hair removal

In Asirox we want to solve the most frequent questions before a laser hair removal treatment.

No, the international scientific community values the diode laser as the best hair removal laser to get lasting results in a few sessions and less risk of side effects to the skin

Also there are different types with different power, so choosing one or the other is decisive if you want to obtain satisfactory results. For a laser to be effective it should have high power, if less energy is applied you will only succeed in weakening the hair temporarily, but not eliminate it.

Also, to remove hair in tanned skins all year round without risk of side effects, you must have the MOTION work system and a powerful cooling system that protects the skin.

The hair contains melanin, which gives it color. The laser emits pure light that is absorbed by the melanin and is transformed into heat; this energy is transmitted to the cells responsible for hair growth, which are destroyed preventing them to grow again.

You can achieve a permanent hair removal in a short time and improve your skin quality. It also helps eliminate cystic hair and improves problems such as folliculitis, furunculosis, hypertrichosis and Hidradenitis.

Laser hair removal requires multiple sessions as we can only treat hair in active phase (anagen) i.e. when the cells responsible for hair growth are bound to the hair. Hormonal factors may cause new hair to grow where none existed before.

It’s a fast treatment. The duration depends on the size of the area to be treated. (From 5 minutes, the upper lip, 8 minutes underarms or groins, up to 35 minutes full legs).

We recommend attending sessions every six weeks in the case of facial hair and every two or three months in body hair. This is the time it takes on average for inactive follicles to become active. The goal is to destroy as much hair as possible in the fewest sessions.

We won’t damage the skin but we will probably need more sessions to get the same result, since not all the hair will go from an inactive to active phase.

The duration of the treatment depends on the type of hair, area to be treated and specific needs of each patient. Considering that only between 20% and 30% of hair is treatable in each session will need a minimum of 4-5 sessions to treat it.

lnitia has a new MOTION work system and a tip cooled at -8ºC to make the treatment  virtually painless, with this system we apply the power gradually so you will only feel a slight sensation of heat. Unlike other treatment anesthetic cream is not required.

With this system you can practically treat all areas of the body except for mucous membranes bottom of the eyebrow for its proximity to the eye and on tattoos.

There are very few contraindications; however, the professional will prepare a medical history. The most common are: photosensitizing medication, pregnancy and breast-feeding.

Before and during the treatment you should avoid removing hair by epilation methods. Avoid sunbathing, using self-tanners and discolor hair days prior to treatment. We advise you to go with the area shaved and clean skin, without makeup or deodorant.

After the session you will see a slight reddened skin, erythema or perifollicular edema in the treated area with a maximum duration of 72 hours. So we recommend applying a soothing cream with sunscreen protection.  After treatment you must avoid exposing the area to direct sunlight or do it with full protection in the area treated. After several days, the treated hair will grow again and will gradually detach.
